09 Mar 2009 Monday Marketing Meeting — Reaching Your Audience

As self-representing artists, you have some unique opportunities to reach your audience that other online marketers do not. You have the chance to connect with your visitors by posting images of works in progress.

Posting pictures that document your creative process allows visitors inside the artist’s studio. It’s as if they could watch you work, watch your mind create. This is a powerful tool. Of course, it can feel like a risk. Oftentimes, the base for a painting is nothing like the finished product. Your work evolves as you go. That’s what makes you an artist, your creativity.

I’m not suggesting you photograph all works and post them as you go. You have that luxury of choosing which paintings you want to showcase. From a search engine optimization standpoint, posting several images is a golden opportunity to capitalize on your keywords. Remember about using alt attributes on images? If you post three images that is three opportunities to use your keywords and placing them throughout your post.

There are benefits of sharing your creativity with your audience. Not only do you connect with them in a unique way, but you improve your search engine optimization.
